Verse #016 of 220
Hello dear friends and fellow travelers on this journey of faith. Today, May 22, 2026, brings with it a mix of hopes and uncertainties that many of us are navigating in our daily lives. From the rapid changes in technology that sometimes leave us feeling left behind, to the persistent news about international tensions and economic fluctuations, it's natural to feel a sense of unease creeping into our hearts.
Yet, in the midst of all this, the words from Deuteronomy 7:18 offer a gentle but firm reminder: "But do not be afraid of them..." These words were spoken to a people facing immense challenges as they prepared to enter a new land filled with unknown dangers. God was encouraging them to trust in His power and past faithfulness rather than being paralyzed by fear of the obstacles ahead.
In our current times, we might relate to this in various ways. Perhaps you're worried about your job security in an evolving job market influenced by artificial intelligence and automation. Or maybe family dynamics are causing stress, with loved ones dealing with health issues or emotional struggles. The world around us seems to be moving at a dizzying pace, with climate concerns prompting calls for action and social issues dividing communities.
But let's not let these things overwhelm us. Instead, let's draw strength from the knowledge that God has been with His people through every generation. He delivered the Israelites from Pharaoh's grip, parted the Red Sea, and provided manna in the wilderness. Similarly, He can and does provide for us today – through unexpected blessings, supportive communities, and inner peace that calms our anxious thoughts.
Take some time today to reflect on your own life. What fears are you carrying? Is it fear of failure, fear of the unknown, or fear for the future of our planet? Bring them to God in prayer, just as the people did in biblical times. Remember that He is bigger than any challenge we face.
As we move forward into the rest of this year, let's cultivate a spirit of encouragement. Share a kind word with someone who might be struggling, volunteer in your local community, or simply smile at a passerby. Small acts of love can ripple out and create waves of hope.
This verse isn't just ancient history; it's a living promise for us in 2026 and beyond. Do not be afraid, for the Lord your God is with you. He will never leave you nor forsake you.
With warmth and hope,
Your friend in faith
