Verse #219 of 220

Biblical encouragement image
Dear friends, As we gather in spirit on this beautiful day of May 18, 2026, I want to share with you a reflection on our verse for today: "...they offered praise and thanksgiving... with gladness." from 1 Maccabees 4:56. This verse comes from a time of celebration and renewal for the people of Israel. After facing trials and restoring what was sacred to them, their natural response was to praise God with hearts full of gladness. It wasn't forced or obligatory; it flowed from a deep sense of gratitude for God's presence and provision in their lives. In our own real-life situations today, we can relate to this feeling. Whether you're dealing with the stresses of work and family responsibilities, navigating health issues, or simply trying to find balance in a world that seems increasingly chaotic with news of global events and personal struggles, it's easy to get caught up in worry. But this verse gently reminds us that even in the aftermath of difficulties, we have reasons to be thankful. Consider the current events unfolding around us – communities coming together to support one another, innovations bringing hope for a better future, and the quiet miracles in our daily routines. Offering praise and thanksgiving with gladness can transform our outlook. It helps us to see the good that God is doing, even when it's not immediately obvious. Let's make it a practice today and every day. Start your morning by listing three things you're grateful for. Share a word of encouragement with someone. In doing these small acts, we echo the gladness described in the verse and spread hope to those around us. My prayer is that this message finds you with a heart open to joy. You are cherished, and there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Keep pressing forward with faith and gladness. #FearNot220 #219of220 #Catholic
