Fear Not 220

Dear friends, as we step into this day of May 17, 2026, I find myself reflecting on the gentle yet powerful words of Jesus in Mark 6:50: "...do not be afraid!" These words were spoken to the disciples during one of their most frightening moments, when they saw Jesus walking on the stormy waters and thought they were seeing a ghost. In that instant, fear gripped their hearts, but Jesus immediately offered reassurance and peace. Life today brings its own storms that can feel just as overwhelming. Many are navigating economic pressures, wondering how to stretch resources for family needs or secure stable work amid shifting job markets. Others carry quiet worries about health—whether their own or that of a loved one—or the constant hum of global news that leaves us feeling unsettled about the future. In our homes, we might face the everyday challenges of relationships, raising children in a fast-changing world, or simply finding moments of rest when anxiety creeps in at night. Yet the same Jesus who calmed the disciples' fears walks with us now. He does not promise a life without waves, but He promises His presence right in the middle of them. When we pause and listen, we can hear His voice inviting us to trust, to hand over our burdens, and to remember that we are never truly alone. This hope is not just for Sunday mornings; it is for the commute to work, the doctor's waiting room, the family dinner table, and the quiet moments before sleep. Let us carry this encouragement forward today. Take a deep breath, speak His words over your situation, and know that courage is possible because He is near.
