May 15, 2026 Dear friends in faith, Today, as we continue our journey through the #FearNot220 series, we turn to verse #89 from the Book of Baruch: 'Fear not, my children...' (Baruch 4:21). These simple yet profound words echo through the ages, offering a gentle embrace from our Heavenly Father, reminding us that we are never alone in our trials. In the Book of Baruch, these words come amidst a time of exile and uncertainty for the people of Israel. They were facing displacement, loss, and the fear of an unknown future. Baruch, speaking as a prophet, calls upon the children to trust in God's deliverance, to cry out to Him, and to hold fast to hope. 'Fear not, my children' isn't just a command; it's a loving assurance that God sees our struggles and is actively working for our good. Fast forward to our world in 2026, and it's easy to see parallels. We're navigating a landscape reshaped by ongoing global challenges. Think about the economic ripples from recent supply chain disruptions—families stretching budgets thinner than ever, worrying about affording basics like food and housing. Or the geopolitical tensions simmering in various regions, from Eastern Europe to the Asia-Pacific, where conflicts threaten peace and stability. Closer to home, many are grappling with the aftermath of natural disasters, like the severe flooding in the Midwest last month, which displaced thousands and tested community resilience. And let's not forget the personal battles: the anxiety of job insecurity in an AI-driven job market, the strain on mental health amid social media's constant barrage, or the quiet fears of parents watching their children grow up in a world that feels increasingly unpredictable. Perhaps you're a student facing exam pressures, a caregiver exhausted from tending to loved ones, or someone simply feeling the weight of daily uncertainties. In all these, fear can creep in, whispering doubts and what-ifs. But hear this divine whisper today: 'Fear not, my children.' God is calling us to lift our eyes beyond the storms. Just as He promised restoration to the exiles, He promises us His presence and peace. In Baruch 4:21-23, it continues: 'Cry out to God... for I hope that the Everlasting will save you... For as the neighbors of Zion have now seen your captivity, so they will soon see your salvation from God.' This is our hope—salvation is coming, and it's wrapped in God's unending love. How can we live this out? Start by turning to prayer, like the exiles did. Share your fears with God; He's listening. Lean on your community—reach out to a friend, join a parish group, or volunteer to help those in need. It's in these acts of faith and connection that fear loses its grip. Remember the stories of saints like St. Thérèse of Lisieux, who faced her own 'little' fears with childlike trust in God. Or think of modern witnesses, like those rebuilding after disasters, showing that hope rises from ashes. In these trying times, let's embrace our identity as God's children. Fear not the headlines or the heartaches; instead, fear not because He who calmed the seas can calm our souls. Let's commit to being beacons of encouragement for one another, reflecting God's fatherly care. As we meditate on this verse, may it infuse your day with courage and joy. You're cherished, protected, and called to a future bright with promise. Fear not, my dear brothers and sisters—God is with us. #FearNot220 #089of220 #Catholic
