Verse #118 of 220
🌟 Good morning, friends! It's May 15, 2026, and we're diving into verse #118 of our #FearNot220 journey: "Do not be afraid; just have faith." (Mark 5:36). These words from Jesus, spoken to a desperate father whose daughter was on the brink of death, remind us that in our darkest moments, faith can light the way forward.
As we navigate this ever-changing world, it's easy to feel overwhelmed. Just think about the headlines we've seen lately—rising tensions in global politics, with conflicts simmering in regions like Eastern Europe and the Middle East, leaving many families displaced and uncertain. Closer to home, the lingering effects of climate change are hitting hard, from unprecedented wildfires in the West to flooding in coastal areas, forcing communities to rebuild yet again. And let's not forget the economic rollercoaster: with AI-driven job shifts and inflation spikes, so many are worried about providing for their loved ones or securing a stable future.
Then there are the personal battles—the health scares that come out of nowhere, like a loved one's diagnosis amid ongoing advancements in medical tech that promise hope but also stir anxiety. Or the isolation that creeps in, even in our hyper-connected digital age, where social media can amplify feelings of inadequacy or fear of missing out. I've heard from so many of you sharing stories of loss, whether it's a job, a relationship, or simply the sense of normalcy we once took for granted post-pandemic.
But here's the beautiful truth in Jesus' words: "Do not be afraid; just have faith." This isn't a call to ignore our realities or pretend everything's fine. It's an invitation to anchor ourselves in something greater than our fears. In Mark's Gospel, Jairus was told his daughter had died, yet Jesus urged him to believe. And what happened? A miracle of resurrection! Faith doesn't always mean the storm stops immediately, but it does mean we have a Savior who walks through it with us, turning despair into hope.
Today, let's gently apply this to our lives. If you're facing financial strain, have faith that God provides—perhaps through unexpected opportunities or community support networks emerging in this era of shared economies. If global events make you anxious, remember that faith calls us to be peacemakers, praying and acting for justice in small, everyday ways, like supporting refugee aid or advocating for environmental stewardship. For those dealing with health worries, lean into the faith that has sustained generations, finding comfort in prayer groups or faith-based wellness programs that are flourishing now more than ever.
Friends, faith is active—it's trusting God's promises even when circumstances scream otherwise. It's choosing to step forward, one prayer at a time, knowing we're not alone. As we mark this day in 2026, let's commit to replacing fear with faith, supporting one another in this beautiful Catholic community. You've got this because He's got you!
What fears are you handing over to faith today? Share in the comments—we're in this together. 🙏
