Dear friends in faith,
As I sit here reflecting on the beauty of God's creation, I'm drawn to the timeless words of Psalm 118:24: 'This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it.' Oh, how these words resonate in my heart! In our busy lives, filled with challenges and uncertainties, it's easy to forget the profound truth embedded in this verse. But today, let's pause and embrace it fully.
Imagine waking up each morning with a sense of wonder, recognizing that every day is a gift from our loving Father. Whether the sun is shining brightly or clouds hover overhead, this day—right now—is crafted by the hands of the Almighty. It's not just any day; it's a divine invitation to joy. As Catholics, we are called to live out this joy in our daily walk with Christ. Remember the saints who faced trials yet rejoiced in God's presence? St. Francis of Assisi danced with creation, finding delight in birds and flowers. St. Thérèse of Lisieux found holiness in the 'little way' of everyday moments. They teach us that rejoicing isn't reserved for grand occasions but is woven into the fabric of ordinary life.
Perhaps you're facing a difficult season—a health struggle, a strained relationship, or financial worries. I want to encourage you: God sees you. He knows your heart. In the midst of it all, He invites you to rejoice. Not in denial of pain, but in trust of His providence. Turn to prayer, to the Eucharist, to the sacraments. Let the Holy Spirit fill you with gladness that surpasses understanding. Share a smile with a stranger, offer a kind word to a loved one, or simply whisper a thank you to God for the breath in your lungs.
Let us be a community that chooses joy. In our parishes, families, and workplaces, let's radiate the light of Christ. Rejoice in the small victories: a child's laughter, a warm cup of coffee, the quiet peace of evening prayer. Be glad in the knowledge that we are beloved children of God, redeemed by Jesus' sacrifice on the cross. This day is His masterpiece, and we are part of it.
So, my dear brothers and sisters, let's commit to rejoicing today. Let gratitude overflow from our hearts. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, our joyful Mother, intercede for us as we strive to live this verse. God bless you abundantly!
In Christ's love,
Your fellow pilgrim
