Dear friends in Christ, As we journey through the ups and downs of life, there are moments when fear grips our hearts like a shadow in the night. Whether it's the uncertainty of tomorrow, the weight of past mistakes, or the storms that rage around us, fear can feel overwhelming. But today, let's turn our gaze to the words of the angel in Matthew 28:5: "Do not be afraid!" These simple yet profound words were spoken to the women at the empty tomb, who had come seeking Jesus, only to find the stone rolled away and the promise of resurrection alive. Imagine that scene for a moment. These faithful women, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, had witnessed the crucifixion—the agony, the loss, the darkness that seemed to swallow hope. Their world had been shattered. Yet, in the dawn's early light, an angel appears, radiant and reassuring, declaring, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said." What a powerful reminder that even in our deepest fears, God is at work, turning despair into joy, death into life. In our own lives, we too seek Jesus amid our fears. Perhaps you're facing a health crisis, financial struggles, relationship challenges, or the anxiety of an uncertain future. The world bombards us with reasons to fear—news headlines, personal setbacks, global unrest. But the angel's message echoes through the ages: Do not be afraid! Why? Because Jesus has conquered the grave. He has overcome the world. As Catholics, we are called to anchor our trust in Him, the Risen Lord, who promises to be with us always, even to the end of the age (Matthew 28:20). Remember the saints who faced fears with unwavering faith. St. Teresa of Ávila, amidst her own trials, wrote, "Let nothing disturb you, let nothing frighten you, all things are passing away: God never changes." Or think of St. John Paul II, who began his papacy with those iconic words: "Be not afraid!" He urged us to open wide the doors to Christ, to let His light dispel the darkness of fear. So, how do we live this out? Start with prayer. Bring your fears to the foot of the cross in adoration or through the Rosary. Seek the sacraments—Confession to unburden your soul, the Eucharist to nourish your spirit. Surround yourself with a community of believers who can encourage you. And step out in faith, one small act at a time. Volunteer, forgive, love boldly. Fear loses its power when we act in trust. Beloved, in a world that thrives on fear, let us be beacons of hope. The resurrection is not just an event in history; it's a living reality that transforms our fears into freedom. Do not be afraid—Jesus is risen! He walks with you, guides you, and loves you infinitely. Embrace this truth, and watch how it changes everything. May the peace of the Risen Christ fill your hearts today and always. Let's share this encouragement: If you're feeling afraid, comment below or reach out to a friend. Together, in faith, we overcome. In Christ's love, Your fellow pilgrim
