Dear friends in Christ, As we journey through the ups and downs of life, it's easy to get caught up in our own plans and desires. But Psalm 37:4 offers us a beautiful promise: "Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart." What a comforting assurance from our loving Father! In our Catholic faith, delighting in the Lord isn't just about fleeting happiness—it's about cultivating a deep, abiding joy rooted in our relationship with Him. It means turning to Him in prayer, receiving the sacraments, and seeking His will in all things. When we make God the center of our lives, our desires begin to align with His perfect plan for us. Those longings in our hearts? They're not random; they're whispers from the Holy Spirit, guiding us toward holiness and true fulfillment. Think about the saints who embodied this verse so beautifully. St. Thérèse of Lisieux, the Little Flower, delighted in God through her 'little way' of love and simplicity. She trusted that by offering her small acts to the Lord, He would transform her desires into something extraordinary. Or consider St. Francis of Assisi, who found immense joy in poverty and service, discovering that God's desires for him far surpassed any earthly ambition. Perhaps you're facing uncertainty right now—a career crossroads, a relationship struggle, or a dream that seems out of reach. I encourage you to pause and delight in the Lord. Spend time in adoration before the Blessed Sacrament, meditate on Scripture, or simply talk to Him as you would a dear friend. As you do, watch how He reshapes your heart's desires to match His divine purpose. Remember, this promise isn't a magic formula for getting whatever we want. It's an invitation to surrender. When we delight in God, our wants transform. We start desiring what He desires: love, mercy, justice, and eternal life with Him. And oh, what joy comes from that alignment! Let me share a little story from my own life. A few years ago, I was yearning for a big change—a new job that promised success and security. But as I delighted in the Lord through daily Mass and reflection, I realized my true desire was to serve Him more fully in my current role. Miraculously, opportunities opened up that I never imagined, bringing deeper satisfaction than I could have planned. So, my brothers and sisters, let's commit today to delighting in our Lord. Let's immerse ourselves in His love, trust in His providence, and watch as He grants the desires of our hearts—desires purified and perfected by His grace. May the Blessed Virgin Mary, who delighted perfectly in God's will, intercede for us. And may the Holy Spirit fill us with that divine delight that leads to everlasting joy.
