🌟 Verse #80: "Have no fear before them..." (Jeremiah 1:8) 🌟
Dear friends in Christ,
In the quiet moments of our lives, when the world seems overwhelming and the voices of doubt grow loud, let us turn our hearts to the words spoken to the prophet Jeremiah: "Have no fear before them, for I am with you to deliver you, says the Lord." (Jeremiah 1:8). Oh, how these ancient words resonate with timeless truth! God called Jeremiah, a young man hesitant and afraid, to speak boldly against the injustices of his time. Jeremiah felt inadequate, protesting, "Ah, Lord God! Truly I do not know how to speak, for I am only a boy." But God reassured him, touching his mouth and placing His words there, promising protection and presence.
As Catholics, we are heirs to this same divine promise. Think of the saints who embodied this courage: St. Joan of Arc, facing armies and trials with unshakeable faith; St. Maximilian Kolbe, who volunteered for death in Auschwitz to save another; or St. Teresa of Calcutta, who ventured into the slums with nothing but love and trust in God's providence. They, too, heard that whisper: "Have no fear." And in our own lives? Perhaps you're facing a daunting diagnosis, a fractured relationship, financial woes, or the daily grind of raising a family in a secular world. Maybe you're called to stand up for your faith at work or school, where mockery lurks.
Beloved, God does not call the equipped; He equips the called. He is with you, just as He was with Jeremiah. In the Eucharist, we receive His very Body and Blood—strength for the journey. In Confession, we find mercy that banishes fear. Through prayer, especially the Rosary, we invoke Mary's intercession, she who said "yes" without fear. Remember, fear is not from God; "for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control" (2 Timothy 1:7).
Today, let us pray: Heavenly Father, like Jeremiah, we sometimes feel small and afraid. But You are our deliverer. Grant us the grace to trust in Your presence, to speak Your truth with boldness, and to face our "thems"—whatever they may be—without fear. May the Holy Spirit fill us with courage, and may we always remember that with You, we are never alone.
