#FearNot220 #070of220 Dear friends in Christ, as we journey through the sacred Scriptures in our #FearNot220 series, today we pause at the stirring words of the prophet Isaiah: 'Fear not to cry out...' (Isaiah 40:9). Oh, what a powerful summons this is! In the full verse, the Lord calls us to ascend the high mountain, to lift our voices without fear, and proclaim to the cities of Judah, 'Behold your God!' It's an invitation to boldness, to announce the good news of God's presence and salvation amid a weary world. In this verse, we hear echoes of the divine encouragement that has resonated through the ages. It's not merely a command but a gentle assurance from our loving Father, reminding us that He is with us when we speak His truth. Think of the shepherds on that holy night, trembling yet compelled to share the news of the Savior's birth. Or the apostles, filled with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, crying out in tongues of fire to the multitudes. Fear not, beloved—your voice, too, is part of this eternal chorus. The Early Church Fathers reflected deeply on such prophetic calls. St. John Chrysostom, that golden-mouthed preacher of Antioch, often spoke of the Christian duty to proclaim the Gospel fearlessly. In his homilies on Isaiah, he urged believers not to hide their light under a bushel but to shout from the rooftops the mercies of God. 'Let your voice be raised,' he might say, 'for in crying out, you become a herald of hope, dispelling the shadows of doubt and despair.' How beautifully this aligns with Isaiah's vision! Chrysostom reminds us that our proclamation is not born of human strength but of the grace that flows from the Eucharist and the sacraments, empowering us to witness without timidity. In our everyday lives, this message hits home so gently yet profoundly. Perhaps you're like me—standing in a crowded coffee shop, hesitating to share a word of faith with a struggling friend. Or maybe at work, where conversations veer toward the mundane, and you feel that inner nudge to mention the peace Christ brings. I've been there, my brothers and sisters: that moment of fear, wondering if I'll be rejected or misunderstood. But remember the single mother I once knew, who, inspired by this very verse, started a small prayer group in her neighborhood. What began as a timid cry blossomed into a community of support, where lonely hearts found solace in God's love. Her story shows us that when we fear not to cry out—whether in prayer, testimony, or simple acts of kindness—God multiplies our efforts beyond imagination. So, dear ones, let us embrace this call today. Fear not to cry out your faith, your joys, your hopes in the Lord. In a world that often silences the sacred, your voice is a beacon of light. Trust in the intercession of Our Lady, who cried out her Magnificat with fearless joy, and in the saints who went before us. Step onto your own 'high mountain'—be it social media, family gatherings, or quiet conversations—and proclaim, 'Behold your God!' He is near, He is merciful, and He delights in your bold witness. May the Holy Spirit fill you with courage, and may your cries echo the eternal love of our Savior. Amen. #FearNot220 #070of220 #Catholic
