Verse #011 of 220

Dear friends in Christ, as we journey through our #FearNot220 series, let us pause and reflect on the powerful words from Numbers 21:34: "Do not be afraid of him; for into your hand I will deliver him..." These are God's reassuring words to Moses as the Israelites faced the formidable King Og of Bashan. In the wilderness of uncertainty, amid giants and battles that seemed insurmountable, the Lord did not merely offer comfort—He promised victory. He reminded His people that fear has no place when divine providence is at work. In our Catholic tradition, this verse echoes the timeless truth of God's faithfulness. Think of how the Early Church Fathers meditated on such passages. St. Ambrose, in his writings on the duties of the clergy, often drew from the Old Testament to encourage believers to trust in God's deliverance. He saw in Moses' encounters a foreshadowing of Christ's ultimate triumph over sin and death. Ambrose wrote that just as God handed over the enemies of Israel, so too does He deliver us from the spiritual foes that besiege our souls—doubt, anxiety, and despair. It's a gentle reminder that our battles are not fought alone; the same God who parted seas and toppled kings stands with us today. Now, let's bring this closer to home. In our everyday lives, we all face our own 'King Ogs'—those towering challenges that loom large and instill fear. Perhaps it's a daunting diagnosis that shakes your world, or a workplace conflict where injustice seems to reign supreme. Maybe it's the quiet fear of financial instability, or the heartache of a strained relationship that feels beyond repair. I've known friends who've stared down these giants: a young mother battling cancer, whispering prayers in the night, or a father losing his job, wondering how to provide for his family. Yet, in turning to God, they discovered that He doesn't just calm the storm—He delivers us through it, often in ways more profound than we could imagine. These stories aren't fairy tales; they're testaments to the living God who turns fear into faith, weakness into strength. Beloved, in the warmth of our Catholic faith, nourished by the sacraments and the communion of saints, we are invited to embrace this promise anew. The Eucharist reminds us that Christ has already conquered the greatest enemy—death itself. So, when fear whispers in your ear, recall Numbers 21:34. God is saying to you, personally: "Do not be afraid... I will deliver." Trust in His timing, lean on His grace, and step forward with courage. He who led Moses through the desert will guide you through your valleys. Fear not, for victory is assured in Him! Let us pray together: Lord, strengthen our hearts and deliver us from all that frightens us. Amen. #FearNot220 #011of220 #Catholic
