Verse #106 of 220

Dear friends in Christ, as we journey through our #FearNot220 series, today we turn to the comforting words of the prophet Zechariah: '...do not fear...' (Zechariah 8:13). In this verse, God speaks to His people, who have endured trials and exile, promising them restoration and blessing. He assures them that just as they were once a curse among the nations, they will become a blessing. 'Fear not,' He says, 'but let your hands be strong.' What a profound invitation to trust in God's redemptive plan! In our warm Catholic tradition, these words echo the eternal promise of divine providence. They remind us that fear often stems from the uncertainties of life—those moments when the world feels overwhelming, and our paths seem shrouded in doubt. Yet, as followers of Christ, we are called to anchor our hearts in faith, knowing that God transforms curses into blessings, despair into hope. Reflecting on this, I am drawn to the wisdom of St. Augustine, one of the great Early Church Fathers. In his 'Confessions,' he grapples with the fears that plagued his own soul before his conversion. He writes of how God's grace dispels the shadows of anxiety, urging us to rest in the Lord who says, 'You have made us for Yourself, O Lord, and our hearts are restless until they rest in You.' Augustine's journey teaches us that fear is not the end; it's an opportunity to surrender to God's loving embrace. Just as he found peace amid turmoil, so too can we, by turning to prayer and the sacraments, where God's strength fortifies our weary hands. Think of your own life, dear reader. Perhaps you're facing financial strains, health challenges, or the quiet fears that whisper in the night—worries about family, work, or the future. In these real-life moments, Zechariah's message gently connects with us: God sees your struggles. He has not abandoned you. Like the house of Judah and Israel, you are being called from curse to blessing. Maybe it's the fear of change in a new job, or the anxiety of nurturing a family in uncertain times. These are human experiences, but through the lens of faith, they become invitations to grow closer to Christ, who calmed the storms and said, 'Peace, be still.' Let us draw from the rich tapestry of our Catholic heritage—the lives of saints who faced persecution yet feared not, the teachings of the Fathers who illuminated Scripture with divine insight. In community, in the Eucharist, in quiet adoration, we find the courage to let our hands be strong. God is with us, turning our fears into testimonies of His glory. So, my brothers and sisters, do not fear. Embrace this promise today. Step forward in faith, knowing that the same God who spoke through Zechariah speaks to you now: You are a blessing in the making. Trust in His plan, lean on His grace, and watch as He weaves beauty from the threads of your life. May the Holy Spirit fill you with peace that surpasses all understanding. Fear not—God is faithful! #FearNot220 #106of220 #Catholic
