🌟 #FearNot220: Verse #042of220 🌟 "...do not be afraid..." (Tobit 6:18) Dear friends in Christ, in the beautiful and often overlooked Book of Tobit, we find young Tobias on the brink of his wedding night, filled with trepidation. A demon has claimed the lives of his bride Sarah's previous husbands, and fear grips his heart. But the angel Raphael, ever the messenger of God's mercy, whispers these timeless words: "Do not be afraid." It's a divine assurance rooted in providence—Sarah was destined for Tobias from eternity, and with faith, prayer, and a little incense (as instructed), the evil would be banished. What a profound reminder that God's plans for us are woven with threads of love, even when shadows loom large. This verse echoes through the ages, much like the reflections of the Early Church Fathers who saw in Tobit a foreshadowing of Christ's victory over darkness. St. Augustine, in his writings on divine grace, often pondered how fear arises from our forgetfulness of God's sovereignty. He reminds us in 'Confessions' that our hearts are restless until they rest in Him, and just as Raphael guided Tobias, the Holy Spirit guides us through our fears, transforming them into stepping stones of faith. Augustine's insight feels so alive here: fear isn't the end; it's an invitation to trust more deeply in the God who conquers all. In our own lives, don't we all face those 'demon-haunted' moments? Maybe it's the anxiety of a new job, the uncertainty of a health diagnosis, or the heartache of a strained relationship. I think of a dear friend who, facing a daunting career change, clung to this verse during her nightly Rosary. She shared how, like Tobias, she offered her fears to God, and step by step, doors opened— not without challenges, but with a peace that surpassed understanding. It's in these real, everyday battles that we see God's hand, gently urging us: "Do not be afraid. I am with you." Beloved, whatever frightens you today, remember Tobias's story. Light the incense of prayer, invoke the saints and angels, and step forward in faith. God has destined goodness for you from eternity. He who calmed the storms on Galilee calms the tempests in our souls. Fear not—embrace the adventure of trust! May Our Lady, Star of the Sea, guide you through every wave. What fear will you surrender to God today? Share in the replies. 💕 #FearNot220 #042of220 #Catholic
