🌟 #FearNot220: Verse #111 of 220 🌟
"Therefore do not be afraid of them. For there is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known." (Matthew 10:26)
Dear friends in Christ, in this powerful verse from Matthew's Gospel, our Lord Jesus speaks directly to the hearts of His disciples—and to us today—amidst a world that can often feel shadowed by fear and uncertainty. He is sending them out like sheep among wolves, yet He urges them not to fear those who oppose them. Why? Because truth, like the dawn breaking through the night, will ultimately prevail. Nothing hidden in darkness can remain so forever; God's light will reveal all.
This reminds me of the wisdom of the Early Church Fathers, particularly St. John Chrysostom, that golden-mouthed preacher of Antioch. In his homilies on Matthew, he reflects on this passage with profound insight, saying that we should not fear the threats of men, for their power is fleeting, like mist before the sun. Chrysostom encourages us: "Let us not fear their plots, for they shall be brought to light." He draws us to trust in divine providence, reminding us that God's justice is inexorable, exposing every secret and vindicating the faithful. Just as the early Christians faced persecution yet stood firm, drawing strength from this promise, so too can we in our own trials.
In our everyday lives, this verse gently touches those moments when we hesitate to speak the truth—perhaps at work, where standing up for our faith might invite ridicule, or in family discussions where moral convictions clash with popular opinions. I think of a young professional I know, who felt the sting of isolation after sharing her pro-life views in a heated debate. She whispered a prayer echoing this verse, and in time, hearts softened, conversations deepened, and light pierced the misunderstanding. It's a tender reminder that our fears, though real, are not the final word. God's revelation brings healing and hope.
Beloved, let us embrace this assurance with warm hearts. Do not be afraid of those who seem to hold power over you—be it critics, challenges, or the unknown. Trust that what is hidden will be revealed, and in that revelation, God's mercy and truth will shine forth. Stand tall in your faith, speak boldly in love, and watch as the Lord turns shadows into splendor. You are not alone; the Church, your spiritual family, walks with you. Fear not, for He who is the Light of the World is with you always!
