Verse #216 of 220

Biblical encouragement image
Dear friends in Christ, let us pause and reflect on these powerful words from the Book of Revelation: 'Rejoice over her, O heaven, and you saints and apostles and prophets, for God has given judgment for you against her!' (Revelation 18:20). In this verse, we witness the triumphant call to heaven as Babylon—the symbol of worldly corruption, injustice, and all that opposes God's kingdom—falls. What a profound reminder that evil's reign is temporary, and God's justice prevails eternally! In the warm embrace of our Catholic faith, this passage invites us to lift our hearts in joy, knowing that our Lord avenges the blood of His faithful ones. The Early Church Fathers echoed this hope beautifully. St. Victorinus of Pettau, in his ancient commentary on the Apocalypse, saw Babylon as the embodiment of earthly powers that persecute the Church, and he encouraged believers to rejoice in the divine vindication that mirrors God's ultimate victory over sin and death. Just as the Fathers drew strength from these visions amid trials, so too can we today. Think gently of your own life—perhaps you've faced moments of injustice at work, heartache in relationships, or the weight of a world that sometimes seems steeped in darkness. Like the apostles and prophets, we may feel the sting of persecution or loss, but Revelation assures us: God sees, God judges, and God calls us to rejoice! In our parishes, through the sacraments, and in quiet prayer, we connect to this heavenly chorus, finding solace that our struggles are not in vain. So, beloved, let us rejoice together! Hold fast to your faith, for the God who parted the seas and rose from the dead is the same One who will bring down every Babylon in your path. Fear not—rejoice in His promises, live with hope, and trust in His loving plan. May the intercession of the saints guide you, and the light of Christ fill your days. 🌟🙏 #FearNot220 #216of220 #Catholic
