Verse #092 of 220

Dear friends in Christ, as we journey through the sacred pages of Scripture, let's pause and reflect on these powerful words from the prophet Ezekiel: '...fear neither them nor their words...' (Ezekiel 2:6). In this verse, God speaks directly to Ezekiel, commissioning him amidst a rebellious people, surrounded by briers, thorns, and scorpions—symbols of hostility and danger. Yet, the divine command is clear: do not fear! What a profound reminder for us all, wrapped in the loving embrace of our Catholic faith. Drawing from the wisdom of the Early Church Fathers, St. Jerome, in his commentaries on the prophets, highlights how Ezekiel's call echoes the courage required of all who proclaim God's truth. He saw in these words a foreshadowing of the fortitude granted by the Holy Spirit, much like the apostles at Pentecost, who boldly spoke despite persecution. Just as Jerome encouraged believers to stand firm in faith, we too are invited to trust in God's protection over human threats. In our daily lives, this verse gently touches those moments when we face opposition—perhaps harsh words from a colleague, criticism for living our faith openly, or the sting of societal pressures that challenge our values. Imagine a young parent sharing the Gospel with their children amidst a skeptical world, or a student standing up for truth in a classroom debate. These 'thorns' may prick, but God's assurance whispers: fear not, for I am with you. Beloved, let this be our encouragement today: In the heart of the Church, nourished by the sacraments and the communion of saints, we find the strength to rise above fear. Embrace Ezekiel's courage, knowing that the same God who spoke to him speaks to you now. Step forward in faith, fearless and free, for His love conquers all! 🙏✨ #FearNot220 #092of220 #Catholic
