In the quiet moments of our lives, when uncertainty looms like a shadow over our paths, the words from the Book of Tobit echo with divine reassurance: '...have no fear...' (Tobit 5:16). This isn't just an ancient whisper; it's a timeless call to trust in God's unwavering protection. Picture the scene: Tobit, a faithful man blinded by misfortune, sends his son Tobias on a perilous journey to retrieve a family debt. His wife, Anna, is overcome with worry, her heart heavy with the fear of loss. 'Why have you sent my child away?' she cries, her tears a testament to a mother's boundless love and anxiety. But Tobit, anchored in faith, responds with gentle certainty: 'Have no fear, my sister; he will return safely, and your eyes will see him. For a good angel will accompany him; his journey will be successful, and he will come back safe and sound.' What a profound lesson for us today! In Tobit 5:16, we see fear confronted not with empty platitudes, but with the promise of heavenly companionship. Tobias isn't traveling alone—unbeknownst to him, the archangel Raphael walks beside him, guiding every step. This story reminds us that God doesn't abandon us in our trials; He sends His messengers, seen or unseen, to light our way. Friends, in our modern world, fears abound: the uncertainty of health, the instability of jobs, the chaos of global events, or even the personal battles within our souls. We might feel like Anna, weeping over what we've 'sent away'—our dreams, our loved ones, our sense of security. But hear Tobit's words anew: Have no fear. God is orchestrating a journey far greater than we can imagine. He promises not just safety, but success, not just return, but reunion with joy. As Catholics, we're called to emulate this trust. Remember the sacraments—Eucharist as our sustenance, Confession as our healing, Prayer as our constant dialogue with the Divine. When fear knocks, let faith answer. Lean on the intercession of saints like St. Raphael, the healer and guide, who accompanied Tobias. Today, whatever road you're on, know that you're not alone. A 'good angel' accompanies you—perhaps in the form of a friend, a scripture verse, or that still, small voice within. Embrace the adventure with courage, for God's plans are always for our good. Let this verse be your mantra: '...have no fear...' Step forward in faith, and watch miracles unfold. #FearNot220 #Catholic #041of220
