Verse #138 of 220

In the hustle of our daily lives, amidst trials and triumphs, the words of St. Paul echo through the ages: 'Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice.' (Philippians 4:4) What a profound invitation! In a world that often pulls us toward worry and despair, this verse from Philippians calls us to a radical joy rooted not in fleeting circumstances, but in the unchanging love of God. Imagine Paul writing these words from a Roman prison, chains clanking, uncertainty looming. Yet, he chooses joy. Not a superficial happiness that fades with the sunset, but a deep, abiding rejoicing in the Lord who is ever-present. This joy isn't denial of pain; it's defiance against it. It's the quiet assurance that God is sovereign, that His plans are for our good, and that in Him, we find strength to face whatever comes. As Catholics, we see this joy embodied in the saints. Think of St. Francis of Assisi, who sang praises even in poverty and illness. Or St. Thérèse of Lisieux, who offered her 'little way' of love amid suffering. They rejoiced because they knew joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit, a gift we receive when we surrender to God's will. Today, perhaps you're facing financial strain, health issues, or relational heartaches. The world might say, 'Wallow in it.' But Scripture urges, 'Rejoice!' How? Start small. Offer a prayer of gratitude each morning. Recall God's faithfulness in your life. Gather with your faith community for Mass, where the Eucharist reminds us of Christ's victory over sin and death. Rejoicing always doesn't mean ignoring reality; it means viewing it through the lens of eternity. When storms rage, remember the rainbow of God's promises. When doubts creep in, let the joy of the Gospel light your path. This joy is contagious—it spreads to our families, workplaces, and beyond, drawing others to the source: Jesus Christ. Let us commit to this: In moments of blessing, rejoice in thanksgiving. In trials, rejoice in trust. Always, rejoice in the Lord who loves us infinitely. As we journey through this #FearNot220 series, may this verse inspire us to live with hearts aflame with holy joy. For in rejoicing, we fear not, knowing God is with us. #FearNot220 #Catholic #138of220
