In the vast wilderness of doubt and uncertainty, the ancient words of Numbers 14:9 echo like a divine trumpet call: '...do not be afraid of them.' Picture this, dear friends: the Israelites stand at the threshold of the Promised Land, scouts returning with tales of giants and fortified cities. Fear grips the hearts of many, whispering defeat before the battle even begins. But Joshua and Caleb, men of unshakeable faith, rise up with a message from the Lord Himself. 'Do not rebel against the Lord,' they proclaim, 'and do not be afraid of the people of the land... Their protection is gone, but the Lord is with us. Do not be afraid of them!' Oh, how this resonates in our modern lives! We all face our own 'giants'—those towering obstacles that seem insurmountable. Perhaps it's a health crisis that looms like a shadowed fortress, or financial woes that feel like an army arrayed against us. Maybe it's the sting of rejection, the weight of societal pressures, or the inner demons of anxiety and self-doubt that whisper, 'You can't win.' In our workplaces, our families, our communities, we encounter 'them'—the critics, the naysayers, the forces that oppose our dreams and our faith. But hear me, brothers and sisters in Christ: Just as God was with Joshua and Caleb, He is with us today! The same God who parted the Red Sea, who fed the multitudes with manna, who conquered death through His Son Jesus Christ—that God fights for you. 'Do not be afraid of them,' for their strength is an illusion when stripped of divine favor. Our protection isn't in our own might, but in the Almighty who calls us His own. Remember the saints who embodied this fearless spirit. St. Joan of Arc, facing armies and inquisitors, declared, 'I am not afraid; I was born to do this.' St. Maximilian Kolbe, in the horrors of Auschwitz, offered his life without flinching. They knew the secret: When the Lord is with us, fear has no foothold. So, in this #FearNot220 journey, let's apply this truth. When anxiety knocks, counter it with prayer. When opposition rises, stand firm in Scripture. Let us be like Caleb, who at 85 still claimed, 'Give me this mountain!' Because with God, every giant falls, every wall crumbles. Beloved, embrace the courage born of faith. Do not be afraid of them—whatever 'them' may be in your life. The Lord is with us, and in Him, victory is assured. Walk boldly into your Promised Land, for He goes before you. #FearNot220 #Catholic #010of220
