Verse #028 of 220

In the quiet of an ancient threshing floor, a man named Gideon trembled before a divine messenger. He had just witnessed a miracle—fire consuming his offering—and in that moment, fear gripped his heart. 'I have seen the angel of the Lord face to face!' he cried, certain that death was imminent. But the voice of God cut through his terror: 'Be calm, do not fear. You shall not die.' (Judges 6:23) Oh, how this resonates with us today, dear friends! In our bustling world, filled with uncertainties—global crises, personal struggles, health scares, financial woes—we often find ourselves like Gideon, hiding in our own 'threshing floors,' winnowing wheat in secret to avoid the enemy's gaze. We encounter moments that shake us to our core, making us fear the worst. 'This is it,' we think. 'I can't survive this.' Yet, God's message to Gideon is His message to you and me: Be calm. Do not fear. You shall not die. This isn't just a historical footnote; it's a living promise, woven into the fabric of our faith. As Catholics, we know this truth echoes through Scripture and Tradition. Remember the words of Our Lord to His disciples amidst the storm: 'Why are you afraid? Have you no faith?' (Mark 4:40). Or St. John Paul II's iconic call: 'Be not afraid!' In the sacraments, especially the Eucharist, we encounter the same reassuring presence that Gideon did. Christ Himself says, 'Peace be with you' (John 20:19), calming our storms and reminding us that death—be it physical, emotional, or spiritual—does not have the final say. The Resurrection proves it: life triumphs over fear. So, what fears are threshing your soul today? A diagnosis that looms like a Midianite army? A relationship fractured beyond repair? A world that seems to spiral into chaos? Hear the Lord's gentle command: Be calm. Do not fear. You shall not die. This verse isn't a denial of danger; it's an invitation to trust in God's sovereignty. Gideon went on to lead Israel to victory, not because he was fearless, but because he surrendered his fears to the One who conquers all. Let us, then, in the spirit of our Catholic faith, turn to prayer. Invoke the intercession of Mary, our Mother, who stood fearless at the foot of the Cross. Recite the Rosary, letting each bead dispel a shadow of doubt. Attend Mass, where the Real Presence fortifies our hearts. And in community—our parishes, families, and online fellowships like this—share your burdens, for 'perfect love casts out fear' (1 John 4:18). Friends, the God who spoke to Gideon speaks to you now. He sees your hidden struggles and calls you to rise. Be calm in His peace. Do not fear, for He is with you. You shall not die—rather, you shall live abundantly in His grace. Step out from your threshing floor into the light of faith. Victory awaits! #FearNot220 #Catholic #028of220
