Fear Not 220

In our 'Fear Not' Bible series, we turn to the timeless words of Psalm 5:11 from the Douay-Rheims Bible: "But let all those that put their trust in thee rejoice: let them always cry for joy, because thou hast defended them: and let them that love thy name be joyful in thee."
What a magnificent promise! King David, under the inspiration of the Holy Ghost, calls us to take refuge in the Lord. In a world full of storms—trials, fears, and uncertainties—God invites us to hide ourselves in Him, our unassailable Fortress. Those who do so are not merely safe; they burst forth in unending rejoicing!
The Early Church Fathers illuminate this truth beautifully. St. Augustine, in his profound commentary on the Psalms, reflects that this joy is eternal because it springs from God's unchanging defense. He writes of the soul that trusts in Him: it sings not for a moment, but 'always,' defended by Divine protection. As St. Hilary of Poitiers echoes, loving God's Name fills us with a joy that no earthly trial can quench—it's the joy of the redeemed, secure in His embrace.
Dear friends, do not fear the shadows that loom large today. Whatever burdens your heart—be it health woes, family strife, or global unrest—run to Him! Let all who take refuge in the Lord rejoice. Picture it: your worries melting away as His peace floods your soul. He has defended you before; He will do so again. Trust Him fully, and watch joy bubble up like a spring of living water.
Today, make Psalm 5:11 your prayer: 'Lord, I put my trust in Thee. Let me rejoice evermore!' Share this in the comments if it encourages you. Who else needs to hear: Fear not, for He is your Defender!
